Meet Emma
When Emma received her ovarian cancer diagnosis four years ago, life as she knew it was turned upside down. As the years passed, she faced many physical and emotional challenges: surgical menopause, chemotherapy, and medication, all of which left her battling severe osteoporosis. Her doctors told her that rebuilding her bone mass density without medical infusions would be impossible. And then, Emma came to The Full Routine.
Fast forward to today, and Emma’s journey is nothing short of remarkable.
Emma’s story has been featured in TODAY and People, where she opened up about her ongoing fight against ovarian cancer. Now in remission, her body still carries the marks of the battle—especially the loss of bone density. Yet, despite the odds, Emma found hope in movement.
“Last year, I started going to TFR for mat and reformer Pilates and walking a lot. I got my DEXA scan results back last month, and my bone mass density INCREASED BY 33.8%!!!” Emma shares. “My doctors and I were stunned. In a world where I feel like so much is out of my control when it comes to health, this was the best, most affirming thing that's happened to me in a really long time.”
At The Full Routine, Emma found more than just a workout. She found empowerment, a sense of agency, and a positive community that allowed her to reclaim control over her body.
“Cancer has taught me that I have little control over so many things,” she reflects, “but having control over how and when I move my body brings me such a sense of agency, confidence, and optimism. It is truly the greatest pleasure to do it at your studios, with instructors who radiate such positivity. I do it not because I have to but because I get to. I am so grateful for your work and energy.”
Emma’s story is a powerful testament to the transformative potential of Pilates and mindful movement. Her journey reminds us that despite life’s biggest challenges, there’s always room for growth, strength, and hope. At TFR, we’re honored to be part of her recovery and her return to health, vitality, and joy.
